Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Program (OHPA)
Federal support of up to $10,000 (up to $15,000 in co-delivery provinces) to switch a home heated with oil to a cold-climate electric heat pump. Aimed at low- and median-income households currently heating with oil.

Who qualifies
- ✓Your home is currently heated primarily with oil (proof such as a delivery receipt)
- ✓Household income at or below the median household after-tax income threshold for your province
- ✓The home is your primary residence and you own it
- ✓The replacement is an eligible cold-climate air-source heat pump installed by a qualified contractor
How to apply
- Check the income threshold table for your province on the official OHPA page
- Apply online (or through your provincial co-delivery partner where applicable)
- Wait for approval before removing the oil system
- Have the heat pump installed, submit final documents, and keep your oil-system removal receipt
Stacking with other programs
Generally stackable with the Greener Homes Loan. Note: in BC, participants in the income-qualified CleanBC Energy Savings stream cannot also receive OHPA — it's one or the other.

Do I qualify if I heat with gas or electric baseboards?
No — OHPA is specifically for homes currently heated with oil. Gas- and electric-heated homes should look at provincial programs like Ontario's Home Renovation Savings or CleanBC.
